CELEBRATING WOMEN

Hungry Lion HQ treated the women of HerVoice, a Women’s Empowerment Organisation in Stellenbosch, to a delicious Sunday lunch with a guest speaker who discussed various topics.

NATIONAL BOOK WEEK

Hungry Lion donated over 500 books to NOAH Old Age Shelter as well as to Child Welfare. HQ Staff also went to read to the children at one of the Child Welfare creches, while the elderly residents at NOAH were treated to a delicious Hungry Lion lunch.

HUNGRY LION GROWS A VEGETABLE GARDEN IN ZAMBIA

Hungry Lion partnered with the Kabwata Orphanage in Lusaka to SHARE MORE by building a vegetable garden for the orphanage, in this way providing a sustainable source of food. After the hard work that went into planting the seeds, the children of the orphanage were treated to a tasty Hungry Lion lunch.

BRINGING FESTIVE JOY TO CHILDREN

Hungry Lion HQ staff members challenged each other to raise funds to make Christmas special for children from social welfare organisation, Badisa. With the money raised, more than 200 boxes were filled with educational toys and treats and handed over on World Children’s Day, which was celebrated on 20 November.

FESTIVE CHEER

Smiles were put on the faces of 150 children and adults when they were served delicious meals at a Christmas Lunch hosted by well-known Ceres change-maker, Andries Douglas. Even BIGGER smiles were put on the children�s faces when they each received a gift on top of the delicious chicken.

COFFEE CUP DONATION

Hungry Lion donated 26000 coffee cups to five organisations that actively work towards alleviating hunger. These organisations run feeding schemes and soup kitchens in schools and communities all over South Africa.

INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN�S DAY OF BROADCASTING

Radio stations in South Africa, Namibia and Zambia participated in ICDB by having the youth take over the airways for a few hours. Hungry Lion supported their efforts in giving the youth a voice and in addition to sponsoring on-air giveaways, treated all the participants to delicious food.

When the National Lockdown in South Africa started in March, all schools closed leaving many children without the hearty meals usually served at school.
